In the vast constellation of the sports car world, Donkervoort may not be a dazzling star, but this low-key Dutch manufacturer has been weaving dreams of speed and lightweight design for nearly 50 years for enthusiasts pursuing the ultimate pure driving experience — the P24 RS, a new masterpiece that perfectly embodies the word “crazy.”
As Donkervoort’s latest creation, the P24 RS features a revolutionary upgrade in its powertrain, abandoning the previously used Audi turbocharged five-cylinder engine for the first time, opting instead for the same 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine as the Ford GT, which has been extensively modified and paired with a custom turbocharging system from Van Der Lee Turbo Systems.
This engine can deliver a maximum power output of 600 horsepower and a peak torque of 590 lb-ft, paired with a five-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels, achieving a formidable power-to-weight ratio of 770 horsepower per ton. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.5 seconds and from 0 to 124 mph in just 7.3 seconds. It also supports three power output settings of 400, 500, and 600 horsepower. The traction dampers and control systems can be synchronously adjusted to completely eliminate turbo lag while achieving precise throttle response.
Lightweight design remains the core highlight of the P24 RS, with the entire vehicle weighing just under 1720 pounds (about 780 kilograms). Almost all visible parts of the body are made of carbon fiber, including detachable aerodynamic kits and the rear wing, which not only significantly reduce weight but also enhance structural strength. The new car also uses a large number of 3D-printed metal parts, with the exhaust pipe being a representative example. Its carbon fiber components are supplied by Ex-Core, using an innovative process without autoclaves, balancing craftsmanship and practicality.
Thanks to this, the P24 RS can achieve 2.3G lateral acceleration. Its low body and exposed front wheel design further enhance its cornering performance. The detachable front nose extension and rear diffuser also allow the vehicle to freely switch between daily driving and track modes.
Under the seemingly extreme track-focused design, the new car features a trunk volume of 8.8 cubic feet, sufficient for daily shopping needs. The cabin space is thoughtfully designed for tall individuals, allowing drivers and passengers over 2 meters tall to sit comfortably. The removable convertible roof further enhances the driving experience.
The interior centers on a pure driving experience, equipped for the first time with an electronic parking brake and a storage compartment in its place. The audio system has been removed and replaced with a high-definition digital instrument panel. The built-in GPS lap timer can record track performance in real time, providing professional data support for track enthusiasts.
This new model is the first car fully guided by Donkervoort’s new CEO, Dennis Donkervoort, after taking over the brand. Although it differs slightly from the car-building philosophy of the brand’s founder, Joop Donkervoort, it still continues the core essence of the brand.
The P24 RS has a pre-tax and pre-option starting price of €298,500 (approximately $350,000). Of the global limited run of 150 units, more than 50 have already been reserved. It will also officially launch in the U.S. market in the future. For supercar enthusiasts seeking the ultimate driving experience and a desire to stand out, this lightweight beast combining Dutch design with American power undoubtedly becomes a new choice for collection and driving.
